Yesterday I talked about my new devotion with my best friend. Well, today I’d like to talk you about my recent reinstated devotion to God all on my own.
Last year in the month of October I started walking – daily. Well, after writing about praying with my best buddy I went outside about 2:30 in the afternoon and noticed that it was a lovely 48′ degrees out and the sun was shining brightly it was beautiful. I was filled with a rush of energy and decided I was ready to begin my daily walk again. Not only for my physical health but also for my spiritual health as well.
I like to call them my “Daily Walks With God” a mile each day to this little church where I have a short rest time and then I embark on my return to the ranch. The photo above is the lane that my route normally takes place. It is an experience that can be breath-taking walking down this little lane makes for much time to think about the things going on in my life that is stress relieving for me. The smell of honey-suckle that intertwines through the barbwire fences, the scenery of pastures most of the grass is still green and filled with cattle. Funny how every time passing them they run up to me like wild, but if they only knew how much I enjoy a good hamburger!
“All truly great thoughts are conceived while walking.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche
This quote explains the perfect example of another plus in walking! I have many great thoughts while on my walks! As a matter of fact, the thought to write this blog post about my daily walks was while I was on my daily walk yesterday! So many things to think about, with every step goes yet another thought of doubt and worry. Only to be replaced by thoughts of belief and inspiration. Where does the “Walking With GOD” part come in?
I’ll tell you now. On my walks, I feel a sense of his presence with me. I mean, what better place to feel God than the great outdoors that he created? You can feel his spirit dwell in the great tall pines; you can feel it coming from the sun shining down on you; you can feel it from the water (we have a creek on our property); you can feel it from the soft yet sharp breeze of cold air. You can hear his voice speaking to you through the whispering pines, and you can hear it through the running water. It’s quite funny how many times I’ve either driven myself down this little road or been riding in the car going down this little road – but none of it even comes close to the experience of actually…
WALKING IT WITH GOD
Talking to him about the things going on, not in a manner of prayer but just having a real genuine conversation with him as if he were walking right beside. Because I most definitely believe that he is walking right there with me. He gives me the strength to continue my route and the energy to even begin it. Physically and spiritually while on my walks I am overflowing with an enormous amount of strength and energy from above, it fills me with great joy, peace, serenity and happiness.
Today I will be going on my walk for the second time this year. With the weather changing it had gotten harder on me to go – but with weather permitting I’m going to walk every chance I get! So if you’re in a difficult time of your life right now, why don’t you just step outside reach out for his hand and have a walk with God? He’ll be there to guide you through whatever situation you’re going through. Also, like I said, not only will it be healthy for you physically, but spiritually as well. Now do you see how this ties in with my post from yesterday? They both have to do with taking the time out for God because he took the time out for you before you were even thought of. He loved you before he ever spoke you in to existence and he knew you were special before you ever were brought to this earth. He knows where you are going, who you are going to be, and what you are going to do. God has a plan for each us. Let’s take that walk with him while he shows us what that plan is.
I pray you are all blessed with a great day in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Tough times don’t last Nathan, tough people do.You have walked several miles in your young life so far-hard roads sometimes, and other times easier ones. God never left you on any road alone. He walks them all with us…the road He is preparing you for now will be a great one. We have watched you grow into a fine young man take these steps slow and enjoy His spirit guiding you. Walk on Nathan… Walk on.
