The Best Job

Those of you that have followed me since I started this blog, you know that I have struggled since the day we moved here to get a job. It has taken me almost 3 years, but finally I have got a job. Not just any job though, the job that I have wanted since the day we first moved here.

I do not know what it is that I have felt a pulling to this place since the first day I saw it, but I have. As soon as I got settled in to our new home, I began calling to see if they would be hiring. The first minute that they were I went to them and got an application and filled it out and even landed an interview. However, I did not land the job that time. I was quite discouraged, but I continued on looking for a job anyways. I just could not understand and I still can not understand why it is that everywhere I went I could not get a job no matter how hard it is that I tried.

I went dressed up, I went dressed down. I wore casual, business casual, suits, ties, no tie, my shirt tucked in. You name it, I tried it. I searched for a job within a 50 plus mile radius from our home and at all manner of places. I tried “Whataburger, Mcdonalds, Pizza Hut, Dollar General, Family Dollar, local grocery stores.” Anywhere and everywhere that I thought I could work, I put in an application. Though I did make a few exceptions. I would not put in an application at Wal-Mart, Kroger, Walgreens or even CVS Pharmacy (it was called CVS Pharmacy when I was applying) because I would not and will not sell people Alcohol or Cigarettes, I can not consciously sell people something that I believe is wrong in a moral and health matter. CVS Pharmacy may have stopped selling Cigarettes and now they call themselves ‘CVS Health’ but they still sell alcoholic beverages, such as beer, which can be very bad for ones liver, it has nothing to do with health.

All In Due Time –

After much prayer, much fasting and much effort in searching for a job. I finally decided to just give up the search and do my best to help my Grandparents with what I could and after awhile I got back in to searching and then I just stopped again. Then one day, I was riding home with my Uncle from another little town not far from us, where we had just seen the movie called “Home” for whatever reason I felt urged to stop by our local movie theater to see if they were hiring and to pick up an application, I do not know why. But I do as I feel led. We pulled up in there and I asked them if they were, it turns out that they were. I filled in another application and turned it in the next day, I did a check up on it the next week or so and then the day after that I got an interview.

After my interview, I did a few more check up calls, I really was interested in the job. I wanted that to be shown as much as possible. After all, I’ve been really interested in a job there since the day we first moved here. (That’s right, this is the job that i’ve felt pulled to since day one) Why it is that I could not get a job there sooner I do not know, but what I do know is that God always has his reasoning’s, he always has his purpose. He always has his perfect timing. We may not know when, we may not know why. And we may not know how, we may never know. But we do know that all things work together for the good to them that love God.

In Conclusion:

It was Monday, May 25th. Memorial Day, I had just finished taking some burgers off the grill and I was making lunch. I had already given up on actually getting the job, because I did not get a call when I thought I would. So I was very surprised to receive a call that day. I got the job! With what seemed like only moments after that, a tornado came through and really tore up the town. I wasn’t able to go pick up my paper work to fill out until a few days after, and I started Monday the 1st of June. I have to say that this job is actually everything I imagined it would be and much more, if I was talking about you I would say that it’s an “OK” job. But I’m not talking about you, I’m talking about me and this is what I think.

I believe it is the best job ever. For me. I love the clean up of theater rooms after each of the shows, and I love the cleaning in general. I love the people, I love serving the people and I love seeing their reactions to the films when they come out of one and I just love everything about the environment. Some people may think I’m completely insane, and that’s OK. I don’t mind, It wouldn’t be the first time that someone questioned my sanity. I really do enjoy every little aspect of this job, I’m still new, I’ve still got much to learn and I will continue giving my best because I hope to work here for a really long time. As long as possible. I drive to and from work with a great big smile on my face.

The best job is not necessarily the one that pays the most, or one that has the most benefits. But it’s one that you benefit from the most personally. One that you are passionate about, one that makes you truly happy. That’s the best job. All of my co-workers and managers are great, they help me out really well. They teach me with good patience and they are understanding and everyone is fantastic. I am really glad to have been blessed with such a wonderful work place. I do not know what else God may have in store for me in the future, but until then. I’m going to keep doing my best while hoping for the best. Thank you for reading this post today.

Enjoy The Show!
