This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. – Psalms 118:24 (KJV)

Danger and the Heart of God

Guest Post By: Gabriel Perry –

Think back to when you were a kid: If you were a boy, you had dreams of being a soldier, a cowboy, a Jedi knight; you wanted to Bring honor to your nation, justice to your small town, or peace to the galaxy. If you were a girl, you dreamed of being saved by some handsome stud, and of getting whisked away in the adventures of a young man. So my question is…

What happened?

Look around your world today: At your job, at your church, throughout your town or city. You’ll notice that most people are… Bored. Unfulfilled. They’ve giving up on the dreams they’ve had as a kid to settle for complacency. Why? Well, because it’s too risky to try to go outside of the box, to shoot for the stars; it may not make as much money, or be very well-accepted… You can go on. We’ve gotten comfortable with how things are, because everything is OK just the way it is… Why change it? What we’ve forgotten is that the dangerous things of life are often what make us come alive… and also that God himself is dangerous. Yes, I said it: God is dangerous at heart.

Consider these things: When God made creation, he didn’t simply lock everything up in a little box where nothing happened. No, he let his creation be free to romp through the wilderness, and he set Adam and Eve in a lush garden. Now, God knew about the opportunity to sin for both Adam and Eve, but rather then contain them in a little boring box where nothing bad could happen, he decided that it was worth the risk to let Adam and Eve be free in a lush, beautiful garden paradise, and to have a free will. And after we receive salvation, why does God even bother to leave them on this Earth? They could backslide, or make God look bad, or screw things up in some other way. So why are we here? God thought it was worth the risk of letting us screw things up to give us the amazing opportunity to show people who God is!

It’s far easier to get caught up in simple fantasies than it is to actually live out your dreams, to make a difference, to allow God’s power to run through you and let you live life to the full. People will feel that if they try something different, that they will die. Throwing away your security is scary, because it’s dangerous. But these are our chances to come alive:

“Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it.” (Luke 17:33)

Just think about where maybe you’re missing out on an opportunity to live life to the fullest, to reach your God-given potential. Just stop and think for a moment (after you read the rest of this post of course); you may feel prompted to try something new: exercising more, giving more, blowing the dust off your Bible and opening it up and reading it for once, spending more time with those you love, or maybe even just taking time to rest… The list can go on. Or Maybe you’ll feel prompted to dump something or do or less of something: Television, alcohol, cigarettes, or that goofy Flappy Bird app. The point I’m getting at is, try something that you wouldn’t normally do, or that you’ve never done before… Something that makes you feel vulnerable… Something dangerous. People won’t often do that because, God forbid, something might go wrong. And it could go wrong; there’s not always a guarantee that everything will go perfectly as planned. You might even fail, but that’s just a part of life, and it’s worth the risk. Author and comedian Ken Davis has said “You are going to fail… Do it quickly!” In other words, get it over with, and if you can, go at it again.

Too scared of failure? Let me ask: What else are you going to do? The same old thing? There’s no life there. We’ll often think that we’re saving ourselves by holding on to valueless things, but really, more often than not, we’re missing out on God’s best: Maybe it’s more time to spend with God or family or friends, more opportunities to do what you love, or maybe a better financial situation.

I’m not saying that we need to become super-buff, super-athletic ninja warriors that travel around the world and enjoy every cheap thrill imaginable. What I am saying is that we’d enjoy life more if we lived up to our true potential, in the ways that we’re gifted… Life to the full. That’s part of why Jesus came, after all:

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)

I challenge you to challenge yourself.

“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” — Howard Thurman

Have a great day… Or night… Whenever you’re reading this.

I Dream Of..

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, whatever time it is wherever you are and whoever you are I would just like to take this moment now to introduce you to my humble abode of the web.

Ever dream of what it might be like to live in a world where there is so much joy that everyone gets along with each other without a single fight? I do, (though that would be a dream) though I would have to guess that it’s too much to wish for, there never can be true peace in this world, because someone will hate the other for anything they set their mind to, but It really cannot possibly hurt us that much to wonder now could it?

Perhaps it could but I believe that is for another day, moving on to much greater and even brighter imaginations of the mind, do you ever dream of what it might be like someday to finally reach the other side and see your long lost relative? The one that was on their way to church that night who happened to get brutally killed from a drunk driver, or how about that young Marine that had so dedicated himself to his faith and then took up arms to defend it in war coming back home to be respectfully buried? Perhaps he wasn’t a Marine, maybe Air Force, Navy or Army, but regardless their specific military affiliation I am sure it is something many family members and friends of passed young soldiers wonder from time to time, what it might be like to see them one day.

Or have you ever dreamed of going to Australia, Italy, France, England, Spain, Brazil, Hawaii, or any of those great places? Has the thought ever even crossed your mind when you think about all the amazing adventures that you could have traveling the world, meeting new people, seeing,  eating, smelling and feeling all kinds of new things, the way the ocean smells, looks and feels when a nice little breeze blows a small little wave into your direction, or maybe the rich earth characteristics that belong to the cultural country of Spain? Maybe just having some Fish and Chips near the a form of water in England? That’s my dream some day, I think that it would be neat to travel and also to write about those travels.

Do You?

How about this, do you ever even dream at all? I’m sure you must dream at some point because it is something that pretty much every person does whether they even realize it or not, dreaming of a new car or a hot dog with your favorite toppings, it doesn’t have to be some huge majestic dream any will do really. As long as you are a dreamer, as long as you set your goals as high as possible even if you don’t always reach them they will always be there and no matter what if you keep trying with great determination, you might just succeed.

Not everyone will succeed though, but it doesn’t mean we can’t still dream, we can always make time for that, because no matter what deep inside we will always have an imagination, without it we are pretty much non human at that point. Imagination gives us the power to envision the impossible and ‘DO IT’ without that we wouldn’t have what he have today, and we couldn’t possibly be talking with each other on our personal computer devices right now.

Because Steve Jobs and his friends imagined a world where anyone would be able to purchase one of their very own computers, and while people thought they were crazy in thinking that, look at us now, pretty much everyone has some type of computer device, I’m pretty sure that way back then even they couldn’t imagine how big an outcome it would have on the world, though I’m pretty sure that Jobs could have, he just had that drive.

I think that will be my theme next year and I believe I will stick with it for awhile too, because to survive we must first THINK of something wonderful, then we must IMAGINE it’s reality and finally we must PURSUE it into existence.

Last but not least…

I dream of a President, a man that isn’t afraid to lead courageously and vigorously, a man that isn’t some career politician but a man with principals, a President that’s real, can you even comprehend what it would be like to have that? To have a REAL leader in the WhiteHouse, in charge of this country? I dream of someone that has a proven record to stand for liberty, freedom, justice, equality and American Exceptionalism, is there such a man?

I believe there is, and while it is left up to each of us as individuals to make our own choice in this life, I myself strongly and firmly believe that TX Sen. Ted Cruz Is that man, I know there are many who may not feel that way but I for one am tired of having my principals compromised just so that a ‘Party’ can win, we must not allow ourselves to be faced with the lesser of two evils, we have a choice to make and it is our responsibility to God and Country to make the right choice.

In Conclusion:

I dream of many things, who doesn’t? But at this moment right now more than ever, I dream of a President that fears God first and wants to do what’s right for everyone in this country and I do know that views differ about the candidate I’ve chosen to fully support, I can’t imagine taking anything less than strong firm principled people that aren’t only focused on ‘winning’

But are also focused on fighting ‘FOR THE PEOPLE’ don’t get me wrong, there are a few others I have in mind if hypothetically my candidate was to lose the primaries, but for that to happen the others I have in mind would have to win over the cronies, I believe that there used to be a time when Americans loved God and Country, when politics and God went hand in hand yet religion wasn’t made political rather we had a great moral nature and no one was forced to believe what they didn’t want to believe rather we had a strong ethical generation of people that loved each other and wanted what was best for their country, being someone young born in this generation even though we are blessed with a lot more ease, I sometimes wonder why I wasn’t born in a better era.

This time period is just too wicked and evil for me, but I am able to dream of more than just this world as it is, I dream of this world becoming something better and together we can make that happen.

Until next time…

Dream On…

tumblr_m8nsc1XB1i1r6rgp2o1_500Over the years I have had many dreams, Today I’d like to talk to you about some of them.

Yesterday I was looking at the in ground swimming pool that is on the Ranch here in Texas.

I remembered playing out back on the 20 acres in Missouri with my uncle – I remembered how we we’d imagine getting an in ground pool on our land, I remember my uncle telling me how deep it was going to be and It almost scared me at the time I was shorter and couldn’t swim.

I recall us fantasizing over many things during that time, my grandpa was very sick and the whole family sacrificed things, another thing we dreamed about was going to this theme park in Branson Missouri called Silver Dollar City. We would save up our money and put it in an envelope for when that day would come, but it turns out every-time our money had to be spent for important stuff to help us survive out there, but we continued to keep on dreaming hoping that someday we would get there to that place.

Well years passed the pool never did come, and neither did Silver Dollar City we still hadn’t been able to fit it in. But things were looking up! My family had moved off the 20 acres to a place that suit us all better, especially my grandpa because of his sickness. During that time there was this old shed out in front of our new house and my grandma had discussed making it an herb-store at that time I had knew for awhile she had the dream for that store and now she was making it a reality that is what really amazed me about dreams, if they are strong enough, real enough and driven enough then you can make them a reality. I loved the store to I helped run it, I was the cashier, stocked shelves and priced items I think I loved pricing items the most.

I like to call it from dreams to reality when something like that happens, then finally a few years later we did make it to Silver Dollar City, but not exactly as a complete family. You see my mom was gone that time out of my life and my family’s life so she wasn’t a part of that and I felt a little unsettled about that. Another dream we had which goes back to when I was a little boy as well, we have family out in North California, I had always heard my grandma talking on the phone to them and she would tell them that we would be coming to visit one day if we ever got that camper we were wanting, which ties in with this dream I guess. In the year of 2011 we got that camper we were wanting it just came as a converted bus a really nice conversion too, but with everything we’ve ever had it needed some work.  Once we got it fixed it was ready just in time to help me reach one of my very own dreams, that’s when In July I got to go to Dallas Texas to the acting camp.

“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”_ Walt Disney

That was indeed a dream come true for me, actually more then one dream came true for me during my 2 weeks there, there I met the best friend I’ve ever had and always hoped for and It’s funny how God played this one out because I really believe this was his work, for a long time I was praying for a friend but in my mind I was hoping for a german shepherd puppy or a husky, but I never really specified that I just asked God for a friend, a best friend..

Well it was in July I was at the point of giving up on that ever happening and then I met Cameron who I now am calling for prayer time every night. That is really a great blessing for each of us, but lets get back to my family’s dream of visiting the family we had in California, after going back in August we knew we were going to move, we found a place in Texas and was planning on making a trip to go back in Fall to drop by check out the house (which is now our Ranch) and go on and visit our family. Well it wasn’t exactly that easy, we had some setbacks and problems, but somehow we managed to make it through and we made it to see our family!

That was a bit unsettling for me as well because at the time my mom was still not with us and that was reminded to me constantly during my trip there, when I seen the sunset over the ocean for the first time in my life I couldn’t believe it and I couldn’t believe my mom wasn’t there with us because it’s something we had planned together for years.

I still have many dreams of my own, and if there is one thing I have learned even though I don’t want to admit it, it’s that with dreams comes work, they are not just going to happen on there own, even when the door opens it takes you to go through it, and if you don’t then well God will close it he won’t leave it open forever now! So I guess what I’ve got to do and encourage all you to do the same, those of you with dreams, passions and goals. Continue to dream, let the passion burn deep in you always, Have Faith, Believe, Dream on…

Oh and another thing, about that pool, yeah we finally have the pool but it still needs some work too.

God bless!
